Columbia Aged Care Services is a private health care group offering residential aged care facilities in a number of locations across Sydney. We focus on the care, comfort and consideration of our residents. This blog is designed to offer helpful information on aged care and share the Columbia Aged Care story.

Columbia Aged Care Services provides residents with the highest quality health care, respect their individuality and assist them to maintain their health and wellbeing. We are proud to say that our Accreditation Standards surpass the government standards in many areas. One of the ways we achieve this standard is through extensive ongoing consultation with residents, families and staff. At Columbia Aged Care Services, we are dedicated to the care, comfort and consideration of our residents.

Care tailored to suit
Our innovative monitoring systems ensure that all residents have programs tailored to their individual needs. Those with special needs are provided with specific care to ensure they are comfortable at all times. We offer an active ageing program which focuses on wellness rather than frailty and illness, and includes individual and group exercise programs. Our highly trained staff continuously undergo education programs to develop skills in current health practices. We encourage family participation and offer support to family and friends.

Consideration for everyone
We have been caring for a range of different cultures in our centres for many years and we appreciate that residents living in residential aged care facilities dwell in a multicultural environment. Whilst it is impossible to provide services to every culture our aim is to cater to the cultures that are most common within our homes, apart from Australian. At the Acacia Centre this is the Chinese, Greek and Portuguese communities, at Willowood this is the Chinese community and at Strathdale the Russian community. Columbia is committed to recognising and respecting the cultural diversity
of all of our residents. Our aim is to provide the best care possible, taking
into consideration the cultural and linguistic needs of our residents.

Comfort to live in
At Columbia, we encourage freedom of choice and independence for residents in all areas of daily life. We believe that a residential aged care home should be as much like a resident’s home as possible. With that in mind, we respect the dignity of each and every resident. Each of our centres offers a variety of social and recreational activities. Residents can enjoy the gardens, hairdressers visit on a regular basis and newspapers are delivered daily. Massage, aromatherapy and other natural therapies are also used. Residents are encouraged to achieve a maximum degree of independence and community groups to visit the centres.
